Diversity
Century Group manufactures a standard line of round and square precast concrete columns in its day to day operations. We also have the capability to custom manufacture concrete columns to meet the specific project requirements of the many architects and engineers with whom we work with on a daily basis.

If your project calls for non-traditional columns, columns that call for utility conduits and receptacles or special attachments we're up to the challenge. Century can also manufacture customized caps and bases for its precast concrete columns to fit your specific decorative and architectural themes.
Color Finish
Century precast concrete columns come in three standard finishes. Form finish which is the exact finish in which the column has as it is taken out of the casting mold. The columns with form finish have a light gray concrete color along with small air pockets and seams characteristic of precast concrete columns. The form finish projects a weathered/aged look which is popular with some architectural themes.
Century also has a patched finish which portrays a rough weathered look. The raw concrete column's air pockets and seams are hand patched with a non-shrink grout.
The most popular finish that Century provides is the rubbed finish. This finish is very popular with homes and commercial buildings which have a country French or rustic theme. This finish is placed on the concrete columns once they are fully installed. The finish is hand rubbed using a light gray grout. The finish has a non-uniform masonry look.
Century also offers concrete columns that have a custom color finish. The colors vary from white to various shades of gray. These custom colored columns are coated with a special cementious coating in a uniform cementious finish. The most popular colored columns are those painted to match the white trim of early American and traditional homes and buildings.
In some applications Century has provided hard stained columns to compliment the architectural theme of homes and commercial facilities. The columns are hard stained by Century's talented staff who are gifted artists and painters. The columns can be sealed for a glossy marble look or left in its natural state for a weathered aged theme.
Durability
The Century columns have tremendous load bearing capacity supporting free standing roofs, pavilions, recreational areas and pergolas.
The Century precast concrete columns will not rot or decay like wood columns. It is very common for wood columns to rapidly decay at its base because of standing water from precipitation. The Century concrete columns are not susceptible to deterioration from termites like wood columns.
The Century precast concrete columns are the strongest most durable column that can be produced. Manufactured using 5,000 p.s.i. steel reinforced concrete, Century's columns are virtually indestructible.
The Century concrete columns have load bearing capacity for most any application and is resistant to damage from accidental impacts from vandalism, horseplay, etc… unlike fiberglass columns.
The Century columns stood the ultimate test when Hurricane Rita hit southwest Louisiana. Century is proud to say that of the many homes and commercial buildings that had Century concrete columns there was not one customer who experienced any damage form this Category 5 Hurricane which had 145 mph sustained winds for over 10 hours.
One example of the extraordinary strength, durability and load bearing capacity of Century's concrete columns was the entertainment pavilion owned by the City of Sulphur Louisiana. The free standing roof of this pavilion is totally supported by Century concrete columns and there was no damage. We can now certify that Century concrete columns are hurricane proof!
Quality
Century precast concrete columns are manufactured of high-strength concrete using the highest quality materials which are tested as a part of the company's quality control procedures. Century's manufacturing facility is certified by the NPCA (National Precast Concrete Association)

All concrete used in the manufacture of Century's concrete columns are tested in our testing laboratory by an ACI Level I technicians.
The Century columns are designed to be fully load bearing and are manufactured using high-strength 5,000 p.s.i. concrete and steel reinforcements unlike the concrete columns poured-in-place by individuals using hand mixed concrete in a wheel barrel or bucket.
Professional
Century's professional staff mobilizes to your project site and assesses your specific needs. As-built field measurements are taken by our field representatives and the concrete columns are manufactured while your project construction moves forward without interruption. In most cases the Century team is capable of mobilizing onsite and installing columns within two days minimizing interruptions to your project. Because the Century columns are manufactured offsite there is minimal interruption and no messy operations entailing mixing and pouring concrete in your yard and on your porches as with the hand poured columns mixed onsite.
