Today there are millions of miles of underground pipelines in the U. S. used to transport natural gas, liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), natural gas liquids (NGL), crude oil, refined petroleum products and many other chemicals and substances vital to our economy. The number one priority in the pipeline industry is safety. Statistical studies have shown that the leading cause of pipeline accidents is from excavation related activities. Century Group can assist pipeline and utility companies' accidental damage to pipelines by using its precast concrete ditch shields. This durable precast concrete structure can provide a protective barrier to prevent damage to pipelines caused by excavation equipment, heavy equipment and other activities such as pile driving, drilling, etc… Century's concrete pipeline shields can be considered a best practice when taking steps in making sure that your pipeline is protected from accidental excavations and other activities. The main purpose of the concrete pipeline shield is to protect the liner from direct impact by excavating equipment and other equipment. Once equipment strikes the shield personnel will immediately be made aware that there is an underground structure that needs immediate attention and protection.
With over 60 years of precast concrete manufacturing experience and manufacturing precast concrete ditch shields, pipe weights for the pipeline industry we have the ability to work with your design team in developing the perfect pipe shield for your project. All Century Group products are American made,
manufactured in the U.S.
Century Group has its standard pipeline shields but acknowledges that every project has its own characteristics and parameters. Therefore we have the ability to custom manufacture a protective concrete pipeline shield to meet your specific project needs.
Pipeline Ditch Shield
Century Group has the ability to vary the size and dimensions of the concrete pipe shields. Century Group also manufactures a full line of precast concrete utility markers and right-of-way markerswhich serve as warning and notification to contractors, municipal workers and other parties that underground utilities are in the general vicinity.
All Century's precast concrete pipeline shields are manufactured using 5000 p.s.i. concrete 28 days batched at our company owned facilities. Our manufacturing facilities are NPCA (National Precast Concrete Association) certified and our plant supervisors have a minimum of an A.C.I. Level I (American Concrete Institute)certification. You can be assured that the concrete pipeline shields that you receive from Century Group will be of the highest quality.
Concrete Pipeline Protection Shield
One of the most popular locations where the Century concrete pipeline shields are used is where the pipeline intersects roads and highways or other pipeline right-of-ways. Because municipalities, highway developments must cleanout roadway ditches, the pipeline shields are placed over the pipelines in the vicinity where they traverse a ditch to provide that first line of protection. The pipeline shield is also used in those areas where other pipelines or utility lines traverse the pipeline.
