Hi-Rail Access Crossings

Having strategically located hi-rail access grade crossings on your railroad is key to effective maintenance and safety. For over three decades Century Group has been the leading supplier of concrete hi-rail access grade crossings to light rail transit and railroads across North America. Century Group’s highly experienced staff has worked with railroad entities to design the most durable and efficient hi-rail access crossings to ensure a safe, fast and efficient transition of hi-rail vehicles and equipment on and off your railroad tracks.

Hi-Rail Access Crossing for Metropolitan Transit Authority

As a supplier, Century Group Inc. is proactive in the railroad industry by ensuring that all sales and technical field representatives have been through the Class I Railroad’s e-rail safe program, the Roadway Worker On-Track Safety program overseen by the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) and the Transportation Worker Identification Credential Program (TWIC) implemented by Transportation Security Agency (TSA) and the U. S. Coast Guard. Safety and security at jobsites is the highest priority at Century Group Inc.

Hi-Rail Access Crossing for Commuter Rail

Century Group specializes in manufacturing hi-rail access crossings in dual track applications which require devil strip panels bridging both parallel grade crossings. Century’s hi-rail access crossings can be designed and manufactured to fit any size rail, most types of crossties and meet ADA standards if required. Century Group can also manufacture precast concrete hi-rail access crossing panels for direct fixation track.

With over 60 years of precast concrete manufacturing experience and being involved in railroad construction for four decades, our company can offer a full range of services to assist owners, engineers and contractors in the design and development of plans and specifications for your hi-rail access crossing project.

Hi-Rail Access Crossing for High Speed Rail and Class I Railroad

Manufactured out of high-strength steel reinforced concrete the Century hi-rail access crossings can withstand the rigors of vehicles and other heavy equipment accessing the railroad tracks. Whether it is a speed swing, vegetation management equipment or a boom truck, the Century hi -rail access crossing will provide a durable and safe surface for transition from highway to track. Our highly qualified manufacturing staff are ACI (American Concrete Institute) certified and our company owned manufacturing facilities are NPCA (National Precast Concrete Association) certified.

Century Group Inc. provides hi-rail access grade crossing panels to help facilitate the ingress and egress of rail maintenance equipment and inspection vehicles. Century Group can manufacture custom panels with extra wide field panels to maximize the premium surface in which vehicles and equipment can transfer on and off of the railroad tracks. If your project calls for a third rail design, Century Group can custom design concrete crossing panels to fit around the third rail restraint brackets, special tracks and other appurtenances.

Hi-Rail Access for Light-Rail Transit Crossing

In locations where there are multiple tracks such as light rail systems or rail yards, Century Group Inc. manufactures a devil strip panel which runs from rail to rail eliminating the need to have different surfaces between the hi-rail access crossings.

The Century hi-rail access crossings are designed to meet HS20-44 loadings with a 30% impact increment and withstand the extra heavy loading which commonly occurs when hi-rail vehicles and equipment access the railroad tracks. Because of the nature of hi -rail vehicles and the manner in which the track are lowered to access the rail, the grade crossing panels, especially around the flangeway filler area, may be susceptible to greater loads than the average grade crossings at light rail stations and pedestrian crosswalks. With our extensive experience in designing concrete railroad grade crossings, Century Group has the ability to manufacture hi-rail access crossing panels to withstand these types of operations.
